Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away.

Thanksgiving 2009

Thanksgiving Day this year was fantastic! We slept late (Yeah, Mia - thanks for sleeping until 8:30!) and started our day out right. Logan was very happy when he awoke, as was Mia. We sat down in time for the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade...it was so beautiful this year. Logan couldn't wait for Santa to pass; he especially loved the Mickey Mouse Pirate balloon. Then it was time to get ready and get over to Aunt Terry's house for our Thanksgiving Feast. There was soooo much food! Mia had her first taste of "real food"; she ate some of PaPaw Joe's famous turkey and loved every last bite of it.

Next, we went to Hardware MaMaw and PaPaw's house and Mia had some of Hardware PaPaw's famous sweet potatoes. Once she got a taste of that, I don't think she cared about anything else. The smile on her face was priceless! She started kicking her legs and flapping her arms and even tried to steal the spoon out of my hand. It was really cute! Logan spent most of his night playing with the Monster Trucks that Hardware MaMaw bought for him to play with when he's at her house. He had a blast. Hardware MaMaw and PaPaw had just returned from a vacation at the Grand Canyon so (of course) they brought back gifts. Logan got a Native American Flute, which he played most of the way home (thanks, Dad!). About half way home I noticed that there were no more "sweet melodies" coming from the back seat so I turned around to do a status check and there he was, with the flute still up to his lips and his fingers covering the holes and sound asleep! It was absolutely adorable.

We had a great Thanksgiving this year and are very much looking forward to Christmas!

Cross-Eyed?

Logan:       Mommy, can we play my new video game when we get home?
Mommy:    Sure, we can play together.
Logan:       Mommy! Look at my bo-bo on my "yayg"! (leg)
Mommy:    Oh my goodness! I'll give it a kiss when we get home.
Logan:       Yeah, 'cause it's really bad, huh?
Mommy:    Looks like a big one to me.
Logan:       Mommy, guess what I'm gonna do!
Mommy:    What?
Logan:       I'm gonna keep this eye on the video game, and I'm gonna keep this eye on my bo-bo so I can watch and see if it bleeds. Does that sound like a good idea?
Mommy:    It sure does.
Logan:       Good deal, Mommy. (And he reaches out so we can shake hands.)

Thought it was cute and wanted to remember it.

Pet Rock

On the way home in the car...

Logan:     Pew Wee! Something's really stinky in here!
Mommy:  I don't smell anything.
Logan:     EWWWWW! It's my hands!
Mommy:  Well, we're almost home now and we'll wash them when we get there.
Logan:     Why do my hands stink?
Mommy:  I don't know. Did you put them in your pants? (unfortunately, this is a bad habit)
Logan:     No. EWWWWW! It's my rock!
Mommy:  What's your rock?
Logan:     My rock is soooo stinky.
Mommy:  OK, we'll wash your rock when we get home.
Logan:     No way, Mommy!
Mommy:  Why not? You're rock will be fine if we wash it.
Logan:     Because it's my stinky rock.

Funny how something goes from being gross to being his prized posession.

Our "Little" Girl

Mia turned 9 months old on November 17th. Like all 9-month old babies, she had to go in to the doctor for a check up. While there, she was weighed and measured. I guess you could say that she's quite the little girl. Apparently, 70% of all 9-month old babies are taller than she is and 95% of them are heavier than she is as well. What do I have to say about that? Well, I say that she may be petit, but she's the BIGGEST sweety you'll ever know!

She Speaks! Well...It's More Like a Babble

Well, she's finally doing it! All of a sudden Mia has started babbling GaGaGa, Blah,Blah,Blah, DiDiDiDi, Da,Da,Da,Da. It's so exciting. Hopefully I'll get a MaMa soon, but for now I'm just happy to hear that sweet little sound, no matter what she's saying. I'm so proud of my sweet little girl!

Happy Halloween

Once again, we had a great Halloween! Everyone came over for our annual Halloween party. In attendance was a Great Pumpkin, Mummy, Witch, Vampire, and of course Anakin Skywalker and a beautiful Caterpillar! Even Zachary dressed up like a Jack-O-Lantern. It was quite the mixed crowd. Logan and Mia had a great time. Mia showed off all her new talents such as pulling up and walking around the coffee table and crawling around the house while Logan showed off his awesome Light Saber fighting skills. When it started to get dark, we went trick-or-treating around the block. Logan got more candy than we'll ever know what to do with and Mia fell asleep in her stroller (of course). When I put Logan into bed he said, "Mommy, I had a really fun day. Is it time for Christmas now?" My goodness! I think this is going to be a really fun Holiday Season.
